Selfless Sacrifice

Just last night my husband and I were wrestling with some of the needs presented in our home by our sweet children. These are the kinds of needs that consume the entire family and create hurting and broken hearts of otherwise healthy and stable children. These are the kind of needs that seem so big, so dark and so scary. And we know the Truth. We know that our God is bigger still. We wrestled with our human responses, filled with sin and selfish in nature. We prayed over our own hearts, asking God to make less of us and more of Himself in our home and in our journey of loving and parenting these precious children. We went to bed with no more answers than when we began our petition before the Lord, but we slept with the peace and assurance that we had been heard and that our lives were in God's hands.

This morning I woke to read my friend Dorothy's blog encouraging us, and others like us, toward selfless sacrifice in parenting. I challenge you to sit down with your sip or gulp of coffee this afternoon and be encouraged in your journey by reading Urban Servant's blog post titled, It's Not About Me...
