Royal Delight

Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord your God is in your midst,
    a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
    he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.

Our house was a flurry of pre-teen and teen girls getting fancy on Saturday morning.  No sleeping in!  There were showers, blow dryers, bobby pins, perfume, last minute hems, and giggles.  The whole house was overflowing with the excitement.  Our three oldest daughters attended the Father-Daughter Tea at our church.  It is a banquet held every spring for girls in 4th grade and up.  For a few years now we have tried to sign up, but the event sells out very quickly.  It is really a royal affair.

Remembering back to my childhood, the love, affection, and attention of my father was such an important thing to me.  While I am much like my mom and learned all the how-to's of managing a house from her, my father's time and attention was a precious thing growing up, and something I am still very thankful for now as an adult.

I hope that our girls could see their Dad's love and delight in them this past Saturday as he escorted them to this royal event.  I hope that everyday they get to see him rejoicing over them with gladness, quieting them by his love, and exulting over them (sometimes with loud and silly singing!).  I hope that their view of their earthly father's love for them is a tiny glimpse of the ultimate and eternal love of their Heavenly Father.
