Arizona: Life in Photo Review

Since we are having a marathon winter here it has begun to feel a bit like Narnia, "always winter and never Christmas!"  I thought I'd post a photo review of some snapshots from a warmer time in our lives - our trip to Arizona this past February where we watched Hugo play in the Presiden't Day Cup soccer tournament. We were the most dedicated fans at the tournament, driving over 4,000 miles round trip to cheer on the Minnesota Thunder Academy U17 boys!  It was a wonderful trip!  We were blessed to be able to stay in the home of some friends in Phoenix and to visit my cousin and her family on the way home.  In addition to a good first tournament of the season, we enjoyed warm days, breathtaking sights, educational adventures, death defying hikes, hours (days) worth of behind the wheel training, and lots of family bonding time.

On our way in Utah, stopping to stretch in Monument Valley after driving all night through Nebraska.

Stopping again to stretch and take in the view of the Grand Canyon.  Breathtaking!

Our own cheering section!  Siblings cheering on Hugo's team in the stadium field in Phoenix.

One of our more strenuous hikes.  (Life threatening, death defying.)  The city below is Phoenix...yes, those tiny little dots in the background.  This photo is at the summit.  While we are wearing shorts and t-shirts, and look like we are enjoying ourselves immensely, we were really just thankful to be alive and praying for a helicopter to ferry us back down the mountain!  (The soccer team did not join us on this heart attack climb between their games.  Wise choice!)

Visiting Meteor Crater on our way home.  A good way to wrap up our astronomy unit on meteors and space rocks!
