Early Plumbing Apprenticeship

I should have known better!

After lunch today I sent Noah upstairs to go to the bathroom and wash his hands before nap time. We were moments away from achieving a quiet and peaceful afternoon. Moments away. Until he came back downstairs holding the plastic toilet paper dispenser telling me that there was no more toilet paper upstairs.

I was wrong.

I handed him the roll of toilet paper and even though he JUST turned four I let him walk back upstairs A-L-O-N-E. Yes, with the toilet paper, toilet paper dispenser, and all those directions: go to the bathroom, wash hands, get ready for nap.

Then I heard those fateful words:

"MOM! (In two syllables.) Something really yucky happened! Come quick!"

He had dropped (or thrown) the toilet paper dispenser in the toilet bowl, complete with yellow water. Thankfully, I believe in teaching my children plumbing skills early on, so we learned together how to fix that kind of mistake/accident.

A little sanitizing and hand washing and we are all good.

He is napping.

I am making my second pot of coffee for the day.

The girls are feverishly working on their school work.

Nic has 30 minutes left of work today and then he's on his way home.

But who's counting?
