Last night I got to finally sit down with a blog/church friend and sister in Christ and it was like taking a deep breath of fresh air. We have been planning this meeting for quite a while now, emailing back and forth. We even met at a church meeting on orphan ministries and planned to sit down afterwards to actually talk and share our hearts, but when you have kids with big needs, sometimes irrational behaviors and outbursts, sometimes you have to abandon your plans for friends and encouragement and return home early. I consider Barb to be a seasoned expert in reality parenting in tough times and I am thankful for the wisdom, grace and honesty she shared in modeling how she and her husband love their four precious children - even on the hard, hard days. For a great dose of real life reading on life in the home of a family loving and raising a child with FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) and three other kiddos, as well as having a passion for adoption and orphan ministry, check out Barb's blog Losing My Mind.
And a public thanks for the pizza, lemonade, and deep breath of fresh air, Barb, it was a great encouragement to me!

I am so very thankful to know that you have someone who you can share experiences with!!! Praise GOD!
I came over here by way of Barb's blog. I am a blogger who got to meet her a couple of weeks ago. I think I'll be a regular reader of yours now, I like what you write. I have 4 kids who are adopted-2 international and 2 through foster care. I look forward to reading your posts!
Barb lives only a few blocks from our Minneapolis house. God crossed our paths just before we lost our kids almost four years ago. Her friendship was a huge blessing and encouragement to us through our journey. - I wish I could have met you too. (We moved to Madison, WI area about 8 months ago.)
Blessings, Janelle
