Deuteronomy 6:4-9“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Many of our adventures of the past year have been new and unexpected for us. A year ago we didn't imagine that right now we would have six children. That we would be homeschooling grades K, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. That we would have three soccer players. That would be traveling around the country for soccer tournaments. That we would delight in parenting teenagers. That we would have so much joy in the midst of doing daily life together as a family. What blessing!
This weekend I am with the boys as we traveled to Chicago and Madison for NPL soccer games. It has been great to watch Hugo's team work together, to see Hugo do what he loves doing most, and to be with my boys for the weekend. Right now as I type there is a wrestling match going on between my big and little boys. I love Noah's spunk and Hugo's patience with Noah.
Nic is home with the girls, having special time with them and enjoying some extended family events. It has been sweet for us to each take time with the kids, to stop and enjoy moments in the midst of this adventure. While I hate being apart from Nic, I know that these opportunities with our children are priceless and that they build our family stronger as we seek to teach them about the Lord in all that we do.
