Bunny My Honey

For our daughter's 13th birthday we promised her a bunny. It was probably the single, largest miscommunication we have ever had in our marriage. Read: neither one of us intended on having rabbits as pets and yet, somehow we ended up promising this sweet child a bunny for her 13th birthday last fall.

Major miscommunication.

After we regrouped and actually talked to one another, we realized that a bunny was not too bad. After all, both of us grew up on farms. Both of us raised rabbits when we were her age. Both of us love nature and the work ethic that comes from being responsible for the life of another creature.

And so...

We now have 3 bunnies.

Not one.

Not two.

Three.

One is the belated birthday gift for our 13 year old daughter and the other two are "family bunnies". Amazingly, they have been extremely therapeutic with all the holding, petting, feeding, etc. And to the benefit of our exhausted school year, they have been scholastically motivating: "No bunnies until schoolwork is done for the day!"

Obviously there will be more Bunny My Honeys in the future...1 bunny + 1 bunny + 1 bunny = many bunnies, honey! And with six children, three bunnies, and one super dog (who doesn't bark and is fabulously loyal) we are on our way to having our own little hobby farm!

We just need a goat and a few chickens. Check back next month...

Our little one's latest request/obsession is for a bunny! Another synchronicity . . .
