Happy St. Patrick's Day

Proverbs 1:5
Let the wise hear and increase in learning,
and the one who understands obtain guidance.

As a family we have enjoyed learning the significance behind holidays, along with the truth behind some of the fairy tales that are celebrated. Today we are learning about St. Patrick's Day with a few surprises. It is fun to enjoy the day and surprise the children with green "leprechaun" foot prints and "gold dust" sprinkled across the kitchen counter and dining room table, to eat a traditional Irish meal of corned beef, potatoes and cabbage, and to to drink milk and water that has been turned green. It is good to learn about the geography and customs of other countries and to learn about what God did there in history as well as what He is doing there today. I hope that with the excitement of these little surprises and seeking to discover why certain holidays are celebrated we can cultivate an environment where our children can develop a hunger for learning and truth.
