A Shipwreck of Sorts...

Sometimes God brings shipwrecks in our lives. Sometimes these shipwrecks aren't the biggest things we have to deal with. Take for example the apostle Paul. I was just reading Acts 27. Paul was on his way to Rome to appeal to Caesar as a prisoner. He had troubles. He could see the storm coming. The storm was the least of his troubles - appearing before Caesar was really the biggie he was dealing with, but here he was, a prisoner on a boat in an angry sea with sailors who wouldn't heed his warnings. And then there was the shipwreck. And Paul used this shipwreck (and others) as a part of his testimony of God's faithfulness.

Yesterday I asked for prayer for the daughter of a dear friend who was scheduled to have surgery this morning. Her daughter, Chrissie, was adopted from Serbia just this past fall with a very rare and life threatening heart condition. Chrissie woke this morning with a fever of 101 and a cough, so the surgery is postponed for a month.

It seems as though today's fever and cough are Chrissie's shipwreck postponing her meeting with Caesar, the surgery. The good news is that we love and serve a Sovereign God who ordained Chrissie's adoption into a family who could provide for her medical needs with incredible physicians who specialize in this exact, rare condition. I am confident that the postponing of Chrissie's surgery is not outside of God's sovereign control. Please pray with me for Chrissie's family as they prepare their hearts to wait on the Lord to reschedule her surgery and for Chrissie's health to remain stable during the waiting period. Please pray for mighty healing from God for this sweet girl.

I am not sure if I posted here before, but I have your blog in my reader. I am also an AP from Colombia. I have been reading your posts for some time. I am inspired and awed by your faith and perserverance. You are a woman of faith! Thanks for sharing your story. Praying for Chrissie! Our daddy is God of the Universe and the Great Physician!
