In the Wrong Place at the Right Time

Sometimes God allows us opportunities to take a break and get away from the routine of life and that is precisely what He has provided for me this week. So, while our blog is about our growing brood of Colombian children, and at this time especially the ones we are pursuing in Colombia, I am finding myself in entirely the wrong continent for that endeavor.

You see, Nic had a project at work that brought him to Falkirk, Scotland this week and when the scheduling of that trip meant that he would be here over a weekend, it sounded like a wonderful opportunity for us to take a once-in-a-lifetime trip to recharge (or pre-charge) our marriage for the changes that await us with this next adoption. This is the first time I have been away from our children for more than just a night - and while it has been difficult at moments - it has been good, too. (We've really just arrived, so we'll see how the week progresses.)

The interesting thing about the trip here is that as soon as we landed we got an email from our social worker back home letting us know that we had received approval from the Colombian government (ICBF) approving us to adopt a sibling group (not a specific one) and they sent our paperwork to the Risaralda Region, which I am learning is one of the prime coffee growing regions, I think. We like coffee!

And so, this is why I say that being in Scotland God has me in the wrong place at the right time. I've never wanted to come to Scotland, but it is beautiful here and so far very relaxing. Our kids aren't here, but His timing for this information to come was perfect. I can relax in knowing that our adoption is progressing. I can relax in knowing that our kiddos back home are having fun and exhausting my parents. And, for the first time in a while I have nothing else to do but just relax. What a treat!
