A Play on Words

If you have arrived at this blog after hearing the web address via word of mouth - Congratulations! We fully intended to make the title a play on words, depicting our growing family from Colombia. It is also a growing joke in our home since I (Megan) have recently become quite fond of my Colombian coffee.

From www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/brood we get:

brood: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English brōd; akin to Middle High German bruot brood and perhaps to Old English beorma yeast
Date: before 12th century
1: the young of an animal or a family of young; especially : the young (as of a bird or insect) hatched or cared for at one time
2: a group having a common nature or origin
3: the children of a family

And from www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/brewed we get:

brew: verb
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English brēowan; akin to Latin fervēre to boil Date: before 12th century
transitive verb
1: to prepare (as beer or ale) by steeping, boiling, and fermentation or by infusion and fermentation
2 a: to bring about b: contrive
3: to prepare (as tea) by infusion in hot water
intransitive verb
1: to brew beer or ale
2: to be in the process of forming

Essentially, the title of the blog could be Colombian Brood - or Colombian Brewed since it is in reference to our family that has grown by way of the process of adoption from Colombia.
We could further complicate the title by saying our brood has been brewed in Colombia.

We are excited to announce our decision to adopt one more time from Colombia, this time a sibling group children age 0-10. This adoption is in addition to our two precious children ages 3 1/2 and 2 whom we adopted from Colombia when they were each 4 months old. It has always been our desire to adopt a sibling group of older children, but God had our Sweetie and our Buddy waiting for us as infants during our first two adoptions. Each time we were told by the orphanage and the representative working with us that they knew we would return again...and they were right.

Thanks for joining us on this journey. More info on how our brood is brewing will be posted in the future...
